Service / Maintenance
J. R. Bolton Services, Inc. services all brands of heating and cooling systems. All of our technicians participate in ongoing training so they are always apprised of the latest technology.
We recommend that you service all of your equipment seasonally. The furnace should be serviced before use in the Fall. The air conditioner should be serviced in the Spring when temperatures are sufficiently warm to thoroughly test your system.
Our maintenance service on every visit includes:
- Checking thermostat settings to ensure the cooling and heating system turns on and off at the right temperatures.
- Tightening all electrical connections and measuring voltage and current on motors. (Faulty electrical connections can cause unsafe operation of your system and reduce the life of major components.)
- Lubricate all moving parts. (Parts that lack lubrication cause friction in motors and increase the amount of electricity you use.)
- Check and inspect the condensate drain in your central air conditioner, furnace and/or heat pump. (If plugged, the drain can cause water damage in the house, affect indoor humidity, and breed bacteria.)
- Check controls of the system to ensure proper and safe operation.
- Inspect, clean, or change air filters. (This should also be done monthly by you. A dirty filter causes energy costs to be greater than they should and can damage your equipment leading to early failures.)
Additionally, during the cooling season, we will:
- Inspect the condenser coil and clean as necessary. (Dirty coils reduce the system’s ability to cool your home and cause the system to run longer, costing you more energy dollars and decreasing the life of your equipment.)
- Inspect evaporator coil and clean at discounted rate if necessary.
- Check your central air conditioner’s refrigerant pressures. Too much or too little refrigerant charge can damage the compressor, reducing the life of your equipment and increasing costs.
- Clean and adjust blower components to provide proper system airflow for greater comfort levels. (Airflow problems can reduce your system’s efficiency by up to 15%.)
During the heating season, we will also:
- Check all gas connections, gas pressure, burner combustion and heat exchanger. Improperly operating gas connections are a fire hazard and can contribute to health problems. A dirty burner or cracked heat exchanger causes improper burner operation. Either can cause the equipment to operate less safely and efficiently

Installation
Our installations start with Lennox equipment. Lennox is the industry leader in heating and cooling equipment. We want only the best for our customers.
In addition to having the best equipment, it is important to have a quality installation. With a Lennox installation provided by J.R. Bolton, you are assured of a quality system that will give you years of comfort in your home. If you are having problems with excess dust, humidity, rooms that are hard to heat or cool, or musty odors, we can also help you solve these problems.
Cooling Systems J. R. Bolton recommends always replacing the indoor coil in addition to replacing the outdoor condensing unit. An old coil will not work efficiently with a new outdoor unit.
With every installation, we will check proper level of refrigerant charge and airflow through the registers that deliver cool air to your rooms. We will confirm that the level of refrigerant charge and the airflow across the coils meets the manufacturer’s recommendation.
Heating Systems
With every installation, we will test and verify proper airflow. We will test your furnace for proper burner operation and proper venting of flue gases. We will inspect the vent piping for leaks or deterioration and recommend repair or replacement as necessary.
Tankless Water Heaters
J.R. Bolton Services specializes in tankless water heaters. We installed our first tankless in 1989, before tankless water heaters gained popularity in the U.S. Tankless water heaters provide an endless supply of hot water, at the exact temperature you need, for as long as you need it.
